Position Highlights The Human-Animal Bond Lab (HAB Lab) is an interdisciplinary research group located with the College of Veterinary Medicine with focus on understanding and quantifying the roles of human-animal interaction on human mental health and wellbeing. The HAB Lab is searching for a postdoctoral research associate to assist in multiple ongoing research studies, including a funded project examining the effects of full-time therapy dogs in police stations across the US, ongoing research quantifying the efficacy of service dogs for military veterans with PTSD, and interdisciplinary studies exploring the mechanisms underlying positive human-dog interactions. This position represents a unique opportunity for productive publication and innovative scholarly output for a postgraduate researcher.

The ideal candidate should exhibit excellent writing skills, a demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed outlets, and relevant statistical analysis skills. They should also have a high level of organization, professionalism, reliability, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage operations of research studies
  • Facilitate data collection, project management, ongoing data management, and data analyses
  • Lead scientific writing for peer-reviewed publications and funding proposals
  • Provide mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students
  • Assist with community engagement efforts and results dissemination
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skillsCommitment to ethical principles of research
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Psychology, Human-Animal Interaction, or related human services field (e.g., Occupational Science, Human Development and Family Studies, Neuroscience, Public Health, Social Work) upon hire.
