Department Summary
As a leader in research and education, the College of Engineering has established clusters of research excellence, including additive manufacturing, cybersecurity, and bioengineering. The college also works with the government on various state and national initiatives, including research in national defense, response analysis and nuclear waste storage. Our partnership with the Air Force and Army Research Labs alone is backed by a $5 million annual research grant.
We have over 4,000 students at UNT Engineering, with about 250 enrolled in our doctoral programs. In total, the College of Engineering offers 4 doctoral, 10 master’s, and 11 bachelor’s degree programs in biomedical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, information technology, electrical engineering, materials science and engineering, mechanical and energy engineering, construction engineering technology and mechanical engineering technology, which prepare our students to compete in today’s global market. Additionally, the college has established multiple 3+2 education programs with universities in India and China.
As a partner with the local community, the college collaborates with more than 20 companies in the Dallas Metroplex through research and senior design capstone projects . UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Summary
The College of Engineering is seeking qualified candidates to conduct research on design and optimization of drag reduction methods using surface modifications that allow for fluid entrapment near the object surface.
The qualified candidate will be performing research using computational fluid dynamics methods and will preferably have background experience in these methods.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to minimum qualifications, experience with computational fluid dynamics methods and publications related to work in this area.
