JOB SUMMARY

The lab for neglected disease drug discovery at Northeastern has a variety of programs in the infectious disease space. The lab is well known for our contributions to antiparasitic drug discovery efforts, and this position will largely be focused on driving a project in the antimicrobial space. We have a strong emphasis on team-oriented research and expertise and experience in medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, and (preferably) informatics is required. Your ability to independently contribute to projects as well as manage existing research projects will be essential to your success in the group.

The successful candidate will contribute to the management of the operation of the research laboratory.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry; strong technical expertise and demonstrated independence in modern synthetic methodologies and techniques; extensive experience in synthesis, purification, and characterization of organic molecules using modern chromatographic and analytical techniques; solid knowledge of computers and experience with databases; strong inclination for equipment operation and maintenance with a proven track record; excellent communication, organization and time management skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

1) Assist in initiating, executing, and completing research and experiments.

2) Prepare and write research papers, presentations, grant proposals.

3) Potential additional responsibilities (School / Lab dependent):

- Assist in laboratory management; and

- Mentor undergraduate, and graduate students.
