Description:  An exciting postdoctoral fellowship opportunity is available at the University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB) within the School of Pharmacy’s Practice, Science and Health Outcomes Research  Department.

 

We are seeking a recent or prospective doctoral graduate (PhD or equivalent qualification) with a background in health inequalities research to join our team for a National Institutes of Health R01 funded study. To identify effective interventions to reduce structural racism, there is an urgent public health need to capture the complex nature and impacts of structural racism in a multicultural and multiracial society. Our overall objective is to develop an intersectional, comprehensive, multilevel, and multidimensional Structural Racism Measure that has measurement invariance and is valid for both Blacks and Hispanics/Latinos. Having experience working with vulnerable communities and stakeholder engagement is desired. The selected candidate will work directly with Dr. Villalonga-Olives on the investigation of health inequalities, the use of psychometrics and patient-centered outcomes research. The fellow will work with investigators from several institutions such as University of Maryland, Duke University, Harvard University, Yale University and Johns Hopkins University, and community partners. Duties will include, but are not limited to, manuscript writing, management of community-based activities, grant writing, preparing reports and presentations. The successful applicant will work in a multidisciplinary research team supported by an advanced data management and computational infrastructure to perform data analyses, develop and/or implement novel statistical methodology, and publish research results.  The incumbent is expected to publish first author papers and present at national and international meetings. 

 

Fellows receive a competitive salary and benefits. As a post-doctoral fellow, you will have a minimum of a one-year assignment with potential renewal based on funding.

 

Qualifications

 

Qualifications: PhD from a diverse set of backgrounds related to health outcomes research (i.e Public Health, Epidemiology, Sociology, Health Services Research and others) are encouraged to apply. Eligible candidates should have excellent communication skills, writing skills and time-management skills. Fluency in Spanish is desired.
