Description of Work Unit

The Department of Mathematics at Colorado State University is one of eight departments in the College of Natural Sciences. The Department has a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, as well as excellence in research. Faculty research interests include algebra, analysis, combinatorics, differential equations, geometry, inverse problems, math education, mathematical modeling, number theory, scientific computing, topology, as well as applications of all these areas. The Department of Mathematics has over 200 undergraduate majors and 75 graduate students, with currently 33 tenured and tenure-track faculty.
Colorado State University and the Department of Mathematics provide a highly collaborative and supportive environment; a number of faculty have joint appointments in other departments or are engaged in interdisciplinary collaborations and research projects. Position Summary
The Department of Mathematics seeks applicants throughout the year who are interested in obtaining postdoctoral research experience in the area of mathematics. These positions have the responsibility to conduct a program of research under the mentorship of a faculty research group within the department. A teaching load of up to 3 courses per year, as assigned by the department chair, is expected, depending upon funding source. Applicants should identify a faculty member(s) of interest for collaboration in their cover letter.

Required Job Qualifications
Applicants has a Ph.D. degree in mathematics or related science area by the date of hire.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • 2 years of teaching experience at the university level or equivalent.
  • Has a record of teaching a range of mathematics services courses.
  • Has a record of being a course coordinator, and/or experiences teaching large number of students (75 or higher).
