Position Summary
As a part of exciting expansion of the research within the Pulmonary Division of the Indiana School of Medicine, new postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratories of Dr. Ruslan Rafikov and Dr. Olga Rafikova to study the molecular basis of pulmonary hypertension (PH). In particular, Dr. Rafikov’s lab focuses on understanding the contribution of the newly discovered populations of pulmonary endothelial cells in the pathobiology of PH and investigation of heme-mediated signaling mechanisms. Dr. Rafikova’s lab research focuses on the role of mitochondrial dysfunction, angiogenesis, mechanisms of immune regulation, and sex differences in PH. The successful candidate will be actively involved in ongoing multi-project settings in a highly productive research environment. Research opportunities include investigation of the PH pathology on computational, molecular, cellular, preclinical and translational levels. A spectrum of scientific methods includes state-of-the-art multi-omics approaches, machine learning and implementation of the unique genetically modified animal models The Division provides a highly collaborative environment and the possibility to grow. An NIH-funded T32 Training Program is in place.

Basic Qualifications
We seek a recent PhD or MD graduate motivated to work in a great environment to acquire skills and expertise for the straightforward pathway to independence. Expertise in molecular and cell biology or vascular biology and cardiology is desirable. Publication and academic records competitive for external fellowship awards are highly preferred. Excellent communication skills, writing skills, and a team player mentality are required.
