Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.


Additional Department Summary: The Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Department at The University of Alabama is a seeking candidate for a Postdoctoral position. This position is available to individuals with research interests in water chemistry. The candidate will be advised by Dr. Daqian Jiang.

Successful candidates will hold a terminal degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in research. The College and/or the Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate. Additional qualifications based on assignment.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field.

Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Demonstrated record of producing peer-reviewed publications.


Skills and Knowledge: Experience with electrochemistry or bioelectrochemistry.


Preferred Qualifications: Strong analytical skills are beneficial, including but not limited to LC-MS, ICP-OES and GC-MS. Experience with data visualization and analysis software.
