Job Description
 

This job is located at the Northern Missouri Research, Extension, and Education Center in Novelty, MO.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to assist with ongoing research trials at the Northern Missouri Research, Extension, and Education Center and lead a multi-state project funded by USDA-NIFA on sustainable agriculture to accelerate the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices in the Midwest. The selected candidate will coordinate and organize all the research, education, and extension activities for Missouri. Job responsibilities include: Coordinating field activities with on-farm cooperators and collect soil, plant, and water samples, making in-field soil measurements to capture changes in soil properties, coordinating field operations associated with planting, fertilizing, cultivating, and harvesting research plots and fields, and keep detailed records of field operations and data.

The candidate will also be performing data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results; and summarize results for inclusion in scientific and clientele-oriented publications and presentations at professional and regional conferences. The candidate will also supervise technical support staff, graduate students, and/or student workers, as assigned; prepare and write supplementary proposals to funding agencies; maintain financial records related to research projects; coordinate the use of shared equipment with cooperating farmers, other researchers, and farm superintendents, and specify and acquire necessary parts, equipment, materials, and supplies; install, operate, and repair research equipment.


Qualifications
 

Minimum Qualification: Ph.D. degree in Soil Science, Plant Science, agronomy, or related fields by the time of appointment.

Candidates will be evaluated based on:

·         Experience in field research and data analysis.

·         Excellent writing and communication skills

·         Dedication and commitment to excellence in lab and field working environments.

·         Ability to maintain a good working relationship with other staff members and students.

·         Ability to work independently and cooperatively.
