A Postdoctoral Associate position in proteomics is available in the laboratory of Dr. Nicolas Young in the Verna & Marrs McLean Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Pharmacology at Baylor College of Medicine.
Position: You will join an established NIH funded laboratory that is focused on developing innovative proteomics approaches and using these to new methods to address basic science and huma health relevant questions. We use proteomics to identify and quantitate post-translational modifications (PTMs) and single molecular combinations of PTMs (proteoforms). In this effort we make extensive use of cutting-edge approaches such as nanoflow liquid chromatography, quantitative top-down proteomics, electron transfer dissociation, and novel in house data analysis algorithms. We apply these innovations to a variety of basic biology questions revolving around the regulation and dysregulation of the human genome. We use these approaches to address multiple diseases, including leukemia, aging, and neurodegeneration.
Work Environment: As a postdoctoral associate in a dynamic research program, you will have unparalleled opportunities for scientific and career advancement. You will work as part of a cross-disciplinary team where each member will be able to enhance their previous experience with new skills and expertise. You will be required to learn new skills and develop the ability to execute all aspects of deeply multi-disciplinary projects. You will also work as a team, contributing your primary expertise and benefiting from others, to address cutting edge, high impact problems.
