Job Description

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, GLOBAL HEALTH ENGINEERING, Mechanical Engineering (MechE), to work at the intersection of engineering, global health, and technology to innovate, design, develop, and implement solutions addressing critical global health challenges. Will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that aims to address pressing needs and improve health outcomes and accessibility in underserved communities around the world. Responsibilities include conducting ethnographic and field research to identify new global health innovation opportunities driven by user needs, economics, cultural practices, policy, and technology gaps; conducting research to develop new technologies, tools, and systems aimed at solving major global health problems, including infectious diseases and limited access to healthcare; and engaging with global partners to foster collaborations, secure funding, and enhance the impact of research activities.


Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or biomedical engineering or an MD/Ph.D. in a related field, with a focus on global health applications; proven experience conducting high-quality research in global health engineering or a related area; excellent analytical, statistical, problem-solving; and written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences; ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary and multicultural team; and proficiency with relevant research tools and technologies such as CAD software and data management platforms. PREFERRED: experience working in low-resource settings and with diverse populations; experience with medical device design, regulatory pathways, and translational hurdles; knowledge of health systems, policies, and ethics in a global context; and familiarity with needs finding, funding, and implementation processes in the global health sector.
