A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available within the Cancer Cell Initiation and Cell Behavior Laboratory (CCICB, Department of Surgery/Duke University)and the Center for Applied Therapeutics . Drs. Snyder and Lyerly are leading federally funded projects supporting high impact studies to visualize single cell behavior and cell-cell communication programs during tumorigenesis. Our team utilizes advanced whole organ imaging, scRNAseq, and spatial transcriptomics for reconstructing tumor initiation programs at the single cell level. Recent high-impact work has utilized our novel Cancer rainbow (Crainbow) platform for exploring the earliest phase of tumorigenesis in the colon and the mammary gland (PMIDs: 31792216 and 34131071). The objective for this motivated post doctoral fellow will be to identify new approaches for treating therapeutically resistant breast cancers. This Postdoctoral Research Fellowship position offers a truly interdisciplinary environment where basic science discoveries can be translated into the clinic. Strong mentoring support is provided for writing F32/K99/K22 fellowships and institutional training grants.

Requirements:  Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required as the candidate will be working in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Experience and proficiency with cloning design and execution, in vivo mouse models, organoid culturing, confocal imaging, image analysis, and FISH (Fluoroescent in situ hybridization) are preferred.  Additional skills in bioinformatic analysis are highly valued. A proven ability to learn and pioneer new techniques and assay systems will be equally valued. We are looking for a passionate, hard-working, and self-motivated individual that is able to work on a multidisciplinary project. Candidates must also have a proven track-record of peer-reviewed first-author publications in respected journals. At the time of hiring, candidate must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D./Ph.D. degree in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology/Genetics, Pharmacology or related discipline.
