Postdoctoral Research Associate- Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine

Scheduled Hours

Full Time

Position Summary

A postdoctoral position is available immediately at the laboratory of Dr. Choudhury in the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis.

The Choudhury lab investigates the cellular, molecular and metabolic processes involved in the development of fibrotic disorders such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). We are currently exploring how metabolic networks may provide disease- and context-specific targets for selective interruption of pathological, cellular functions and how these metabolic adaptations in turn may be targeted therapeutically for IPF. Experimental approaches employed in our lab involve cell signaling and metabolism, metabolomics, mitochondrial biology, molecular/cellular biology, genetically modified mice, lung fibrosis models, isolation and culture of primary lung fibroblasts, single cell RNA-seq and epigenetics. The ultimate goal of our research program is to identify new disease targets and develop novel therapeutic approaches to treat IPF.

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate with prior experience in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology.  Our supportive environment values teamwork, dedication, and curiosity.  Successful candidates will be self-motivated and have skills and training in performing complex research studies, experiments, and assays.   This position will also provide opportunity to develop exciting, cutting edge independent translational research projects at the intersection of metabolism  and cell signaling.
