Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Human Sciences Extension and Outreach at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time postdoctoral position with the Iowa Obesity Program Leveraging Activities and Partnerships to Address Obesity (Iowa LEAP) project team.  

This position will provide management and assistance to the project team in completing tasks related to the implementation of the Iowa LEAP project. The project will address two key obesity-associated risk factors--poor diet and physical inactivity, in six of the high obesity Iowa counties: Cedar, Clinton, Crawford, Franklin, Muscatine, and Pottawattamie by increasing access to healthy food and physical activity.  

Responsibilities include working with project team members to daily management of evaluation activities of project activities, act as the internal evaluation liasison with external evaluators and the CDC evaluation team, support county-level reporting of project outcome metrics, work with evaluation team to identify appropriate data collections tools based on county activities, collect and evaluate data from community assessments. In addition to evaluation work, the position will work closely with state and county staff to provide technical assistance to project staff, regional project managers, and county staff on project planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting; assist with scholarly presentations and publications as well as secure national, regional, and local opportunities for project funding, dissemination, and outreach; participate and lead state partnership meetings.

This position will work closely with Dr. Lyndi Buckingham-Schutt to ensure ongoing coordination with CDC staff including post-award monitoring and reporting activities, monthly conference calls with the CDC, and participation in peer-sharing opportunities.


Required Minimum Qualifications:

 PhD in public health, dietetics, food and nutrition, exercise science, physical activity, kinesiology, nutrition education, community nutrition or closely related field.   Driver’s License.


Preferred Qualifications:

 

Experience with project management

Experience with implemenation science frameworks

Experience with community engagement

Experience with surveys (e.g., Qualtrics) and data management

​Experience working with multi-level nutrition, food or physical activity system initiatives​ 

English speaking

Proficient with computer software and online tools
