Job Summary
The Department of Toxicology and Cancer Biology is recruiting a Postdoctoral Scholar for the lab (eal-Metabo Lab) of Dr. Eunus S. Ali, Assistant Professor. The eal-Metabo Lab, whose primary goal is to push the boundaries of cancer metabolism, welcomes all individuals regardless of gender, race/ethnicity, age, religion, cultural background, socioeconomic status or sexual orientation.
Scientifically, this position will be responsible for dissecting the dysregulated metabolic pathways in cancer utilizing in vitro biochemical approaches, molecular biology, metabolomics, metabolic flux analysis, heavy isotope tracing, and animal models. Demonstrable knowledge and experience in mass spectroscopy-based metabolomics or proteomics, and/or biochemistry of metabolism is highly desirable, but not required. Experience with LC-MS or the datasets associated with metabolic studies is a plus.

As one of the core philosophies of the lab, the lab PI will place a strong emphasis on mentoring trainees towards their career development goals.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
1) Ability to work in a collegial and cooperative manner with the faculty supervisor and other co-workers.
2) Written and oral communications skills. Knowledge and experience with computer programs including word processing, Excel, Powerpoint and statistical analysis software.
3) Mentor and train graduate and undergraduate students.
4) Attend conferences to present findings to broader scientific community.
5) Write manuscripts, postdoctoral fellowships, and assist with other funding applications.
