Post Doctoral Scholar – The Ohio State University (OSU) Department of Biomedical Informatics (BMI) and the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO) are seeking outstanding applicants for the Post Doctoral Scholar positions. Under the mentorship of Dr. Brian Searle, the Post Doctoral Scholar will develop and apply novel statistical and computational methods to integrate proteomics, genomics, and mass spectrometry datasets to study human pathologies with a special focus on cancer immunology. The Post Doctoral Scholar position will work within a diverse team of researchers that includes computational biologists, chemists, and clinicians. The Post Doctoral Scholar will also have exciting opportunities to collaborate with researchers in OSU BMI, PIIO, and the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center - James. The applicant must be a team player, willing to both lead projects and contribute to multi-author papers. Mentorship and support/professional development activities tailored to individual career interests will be available.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • PhD awarded by the start date (or to be shortly awarded) in fields such as biostatistics, computer science, bioinformatics, biochemistry, or genomics

  • Experience with programming, scripting, algorithm and software development

  • Experience with proteomics sample preparation and mass spectrometry

  • Commitment to collaborating on research and publications

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills

  • Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Research experience in bioinformatics with a focus in proteomics and mass spectrometry preferred

  • Experience with Java and/or Python software development

  • Experience with the Unix/Linux computing environment
