Post-Doctoral Research Associate- Mechanical, Aerospace, & Biomed Engineering - 24000000AP
Post-Doctoral Position: Robotics Position Description: The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and surgeons to advance the current prototype of the robotic laparoscopic camera system. The primary focus of this position will be on addressing the challenges related to closed-loop control, pose tracking, and tissue-camera interaction. The candidate will also be required to develop and implement machine learning methods for part inspection and trajectory planning tasks using robotic manipulators in manufacturing. Key Responsibilities: Part Inspection and Trajectory Planning: Develop and implement 3D part modeling algorithms with vision sensors or scanners, and the initial task training setup to handle dynamic manufacturing tasks. Develop and implement dynamic inspection and planning tasks with artificial intelligence. Closed-Loop Control Development: Design and implement novel control algorithms to enable closed-loop camera manipulation. This involves real-time pose tracking, trajectory planning, and ensuring reliable wireless communication between the camera and external actuator. Pose Estimation and Localization: Develop a robust and accurate pose estimation system for the camera within the abdominal cavity. Investigate and implement localization techniques that can withstand the challenges of strong magnetic fields and uncertainties in the environment. Contact Force and Stress Analysis: Investigate the interaction between the camera and surrounding tissue. Develop a comprehensive contact model that considers the deformability of both the camera and the tissue to ensure safe and gentle interactions. System Optimization: Optimize the camera system design to enhance its performance, reliability, and safety. This includes exploring power management strategies, minimizing interference, and improving overall efficiency. Experimental Validation: Conduct in vitro experiments and ex vivo tests to validate the performance of the developed camera system. Analyze experimental results and iteratively improve the system based on findings. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with team members, surgeons, and external partners. Present research findings in conferences, workshops, and academic journals.
Description
