Post-Doctoral Fellow - (240000MY)
A post-doctoral research position is available immediately in the Mas lab of Transplantation Research in the Division of Surgical Sciences at the Department of Surgery in University of Maryland School of Medicine . The main lab focus is on molecular and cellular transplant immunology. The lab applies multiple high throughput technologies to decipher the mechanisms that associate with main conditions affecting the kidney and liver donor organ and graft leading to shorter graft longevity (e.g., graft fibrogenesis, ischemia reperfusion injury, organ donor quality) such as small non-coding RNA sequencing, DNA methylation, RNA sequencing, single cell RNA and ATAC sequencing, etc. Long-term goal is to use this information to design potential interventions to improve patient and graft health as evident from our publications . The lab collaborates extensively within the US and globally with leading physicians, surgeons, and other research teams. Ideal candidate will have expertise in high throughput technologies, basic molecular and cellular biology techniques, mammalian cell culture, CRISPR-Cas9 (for gene knockout and DNA methylation), lentivirus generation, flow cytometry, extracellular vesicles, and pre-clinical models. Experience in clinical-translational research and collaborative research will be a major advantage. Interested candidates should email a CV and a list of three professional references to Valeria R. Mas, MS, PhD, FAST (Professor and Head, Division of Surgical Sciences) at [email protected] . Although previous experience is preferred, recent PhD graduates are welcome to apply.
Why you should join:
-The lab is in the state-of-the-art Health Science Research Building – III of University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) in the city of Baltimore, Maryland, and is home to multiple research groups, a strong central core facility, and the University of Maryland Medical System within walking distance.
-A dedicated bioinformatics and statistical research support provides the necessary expertise required for analyzing high throughput data.
-We are in heart of downtown near the M&T Bank stadium, the Orioles Park, and the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Baltimore is moving to become a key player in biotech research and industries in the country.
-Location of the School of Medicine gives us close access and collaboration opportunities with universities of the University of Maryland System and Johns Hopkins University along with the National Institute of Health.
-The UMSOM post-doc program is focused on mentorship and career advancement of the candidate.
-Baltimore County is well connected by public transport. The city also has good access to three major airports with national and international connectivity.
The University of Maryland is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer. Minorities, women, individuals with disabilities and protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
