Postdoctoral Associate, Intimate Partner Violence Intervention, Yale University

Under the mentorship and direction of Dr. Carla Stover, the postdoctoral associate will work within the Fathers for Change research program that is supported by 2 NIH grant-funded randomized controlled trials of Fathers for Change, an individual intervention for fathers who have used violence and may have co-occurring substance misuse problems.  One trial is specific to families involved with child protective services and the second is within substance misuse treatment programs including the VA.  For further information about Fathers for Change see:  Fathers for Change < child="" study="" center="">.  The postdoctoral position is initially funded for 2 years. Some postdoctoral fellows are successful in transitioning into a faculty position, and this may be a path the postdoctoral fellow may wish to pursue. While the position is research-focused, there are ample opportunities to accrue supervised clinical hours in assessment and psychotherapy (summarized below).

The Associate will be trained and supervised in interventions for IPV and substance misuse.  The position will be a balance of providing research interventions and helping coordinate the clinical trials. This will include oversight of student research interns in the lab, study recruitment, baseline and follow-up assessments, coding of father-child play assessments, data management, analysis and writing/presenting result for publication and conferences.  The Associate will receive strong mentorship in further developing their own, independent program of research, manuscript development and grant development.

The candidate should have demonstrated experience collecting original data, advanced quantitative analytic skills, experience in database management, and experience with clinical populations. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience with IPV and/or substance misuse and those with clinical trials experience.  Qualifications include a PhD in psychology, social work or related clinical discipline. Candidates who have completed all of their requirements for their PhD but the degree has not yet been conferred, will be considered.

Start date is flexible.

Yale values diversity in its faculty, staff, trainees, and students and especially encourages applications from women, persons with disabilities, protected veterans and underrepresented minorities. Yale is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
