The Stem Cell Institute is currently seeking a Post Doctoral Associate to work full time in Miami. The Post Doctoral Associate contributes to the University’s research activities under the supervision of principal investigator and senior staff. Moreover, the incumbent understands, interprets, and complies with research policies and protocols.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                     

• Performs specialized and complex experiments/studies.

• Participates in the publication of significant research results.

• Advances expertise through education, training, and research.

• Participates in writing extramural grants/proposals to gain support when appropriate.

• Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens and tissue cultures.

• Weighs and anesthetizes laboratory animals for experiments.

• Operates sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment.

• Performs analyses to complete research test results.

• Performs photography and dark room processing.

• Participates in training sessions and workshops.

• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions

Expand and carry out federal and local agency funded projects
Potentially design new projects
Perform biochemical experiments, including Western blotting and immunohistochemical staining.

Perform molecular biology experiments, including quantitative RT-PCR, site-directed mutagenesis.

Conduct genetic and epigenetic studies, including CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing and DNA methylation studies.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                    

Education:

PhD, MD or equivalent Degree in relevant field

Experience:  

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

• Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
