Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit | Our laboratory is uniquely positioned in the UNC/NCSU Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering (bme.unc.edu), which integrates the exceptional strengths of the UNC Chapel Hill College of Arts & Sciences and School of Medicine and the NC State University College of Engineering. Together, this facilitates meaningful and productive collaborations between scientists, engineers, and clinicians and offers tremendous opportunities for professional development. The Applied Biomechanics Laboratory offers state-of-the-art and dedicated facilities to support the applicants’ research.The UNC-NCSU Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering stresses the application of science and engineering, mathematical analysis, and computer techniques to biomedical problems. The research and entrepreneurship of the faculty, students, and staff aim to accumulate, generate, and disseminate biomedical engineering knowledge to improve health care for the benefit of the people of North Carolina, the nation, and the world. Position Summary | The Applied Biomechanics Laboratory (abl.bme.unc.edu) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a postdoctoral position to help lead an newly-funded research project at the interface of wearable sensors, machine learning, and precision rehabilitation for individuals with knee joint osteoarthritis. The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative team of research partners spanning Biomedical Engineering, Exercise Sciences, and orthopaedics. To support this role, the applicant will have access to an integrative combination of experimental and computational techniques, from quantitative motion analysis and wearable sensors to musculoskeletal simulation and orthopaedic tissue imaging. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Ph.D. in an area related to the biomechanics or neuromechanics of human movement. |

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | A history of project leadership, and strong technical skills in biomechanics and human movement analysis are desirable |
