Job Summary

The candidate is expected to engage in experimental design and execution of the research projects related to the NSF ERC ASPIRE (Advanced Sustainability through Powered Infrastructure for Roadway Electrification) including, but not limited to, co-simulation of transportation and electric energy systems, environmental impacts of technology deployment, and behavioral modeling of user perceptions. The candidate will help develop adoption metrics for individual projects and for the center as a whole that are needed for project assessment and implementation of the risk management plan. It is expected that the candidate will have important oversight responsibilities for undergraduate and graduate students.

The position is 40 hours per week with a possible duration of two years, contingent upon successful performance each year.

Education

Qualified individuals should have a Ph.D. degree in transportation engineering or planning, engineering and policy, or a related field, and be familiar with energy and environmental impacts of transportation systems, modes and vehicle/fuel technologies. The applicant should have a good understanding of the general operation of the transportation sector and of transportation systems within it, as well as with various aspects of advanced vehicle technologies. 


Experience

Excellent analytical skills, preferably with experience of survey analysis, statistical tools, mixed methods and machine learning.

Computer programming skills in Java, Python or similar languages.

Experience with software programs such as MS Excel, SAS, R and other relevant programs.

Strong organizational, writing and oral communication skills.

Ability to work independently and participate in teams with diverse individuals. Commitment to social justice and supporting an inclusive and diverse work environment.

Professional working proficiency in Spanish a plus.
