Job Summary
Dr. Yuru Wang’s lab in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to conduct research in the field of RNA modifications. The Wang lab develops and uses novel biochemical tools to study the regulatory installation, recognition, dynamics, and functions of important chemical modifications on RNA, including pseudouridine and inosine. The candidate can choose to pursue in one of the three directions listed below based on one’s own research background and interest:
1. Novel technology development to probing RNA modifications in vitro and in living cells.
2. Roles of RNA modifications in mitochondria function and innate immunity.
3. Mechanisms governing the selective installation of RNA modifications and precise site-directed modulation based on these understandings.
Responsibilities
Qualifications

Applicants must possess or will soon acquire a PhD degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related fields. Applicants should have high proficiency in general cell biology and molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, western blots, cellular assays, molecular cloning, and protein purification, and candidates with expertise in immunology or bioinformatics are preferred. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and possess the ability to work both independently as well as in a collaborative environment. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and will follow NIH guidelines.
Responsibilities

1) Designing and performing experiments, data analysis, and manuscript writing.
2) Presenting regularly in group meetings and at local and international meetings.
3) Supervising lab undergraduate and graduate students.
