Job Summary
Independently performs or directs the performance of highly specialized and complex research where original scientific contributions are expected. This position will evaluate novel combinations of anticancer agents and novel small molecules under investigation as novel anticancer agents and explore tumor biology in multiple tumor models and translational tumor tissue studies. Candidates must be skilled in the use of laboratory equipment, and have the ability to create and analyze statistical calculations and prepare reports.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated initiative, curiosity and dedication to scientific research as well as the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Be willing to develop a broad range of experience in cancer biology, drug discovery and development. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required

Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description
Work requires exercising independent judgment and basic theoretical knowledge of the applicable science and is performed independently and through periodic conferences with peers and superiors.
  • Performs tests and procedures using laboratory equipment. Maintain and characterize in vitro cell and ex vivo tumor models. Obtain and process human tumor tissue and blood samples. Conduct biological assays including, but not limited to, RNA, DNA and enzyme assays, cell-based assays, high-content screens, reporter-based screens, in vivo testing, quantitative PCR, western blot, protein-binding assays, DNA transfection and viral infection, and other molecular and cellular biology techniques using in vitro tumor models and human tumor tissue samples
  • Monitors and assists with purchasing of laboratory supplies and materials.
  • Conducts literature reviews to obtain abstracts and information to be utilized in research.
  • Makes statistical calculations, analyzes data and prepares reports summarizing results.
  • Applies independent judgment in order to assess the validity of data collected and to interpret results
  • Devises, refines and implements new techniques or modifies existing processes by utilizing advanced knowledge
  • Co-author research papers and prepare grants
  • May represent the University by presenting research and findings to peers at conventions and conferences
  • May oversee the operations of student course experiments in a laboratory setting.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D. in an appropriate scientific discipline Previous laboratory experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, histology or a related-field is necessary.
• Advanced knowledge of lab equipment and good lab practices
• Adept at handling multiple priorities with aggressive timelines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must thrive in a team-oriented and entrepreneurial environment
