Postdoctoral Associate in the Cavacini Lab.

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Lisa Cavacini in the Division of Innate Immunity, Department of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School.  Our laboratory conducts discovery and pre-clinical development of biologics to prevent or treat disease.  Diseases include infectious disease (viral and bacterial) and immunoregulatory conditions.  Not only do we discover human monoclonal or VHH antibodies to prevent or treat disease, but also perform IND-enabling studies to progress to clinical trials.  Most of the delivery platforms for these biologics are local delivery to the mucosal tissue.

This includes passive immunotherapy as well as future development of genetic delivery of the biologics. This project provides an excellent opportunity to learn and further develop a variety of techniques. The position will have exposure to using several antibody discovery platforms, from phage and yeast display, to nanobody development, and protein purifications/modifications. In addition, will have a front seat to various collaborations with other groups. The selected candidate will work independently to design and execute experiments. Results of this project will be presented at seminars and scientific meetings, which may involve travel. The post-doctoral fellow will also prepare and submit manuscripts.

Candidates must have a recent Ph.D. in the biological sciences with experience in molecular biology including vector design.  Experience with next-generation sequencing is preferred but not required.  Excellent analytical skills and independent judgement; Highly collegial and works well as a team member; Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with precision and tact; Meticulous record keeping.
