Description of Work
As a Plant Care Worker, you will:
  • Assist the greenhouse manager with day-to-day operations of the greenhouses to include planting, watering, staking, organizing, upshifting and washing.
  • Monitor plants for pests and diseases and treat as appropriate.
  • Help with diagnosing and treating plant problems, inventory, fertilizing, and autoclaving.

Ability to obtain a pesticide applicators license within six months of hire essential. Regular weekend and holiday hours are required as part of a rotation within the staff.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency plus 1 year of experience in a plant related field. Additional relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must have effective communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet University driving requirements.
  • Ability to obtain pesticide applicator license within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
  • General plant care knowledge and/or experience, i.e., seeding, planting, and watering.
  • Pesticide applicator license preferred.
