Position Summary
The Physician Assistant (PA) Masters in Science Program in the School of Rehabilitation and Medical Sciences is recruiting for multiple part-time fixed term faculty positions. These faculty positions will work under the direction of the Program Director and may involve year-round work related to the didactic phases of the program.
The anticipated start date for this benefit eligible position is August 19, 2024. However, supplemental summer assignments may be available beginning in May. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Teaching courses in the ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Assisting with student remediation process
  • Student advising
  • Participating in program committee work
  • Supporting on-going ARC-PA accreditation maintenance
  • Maintaining commitment to the profession
  • Participating in the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants (MAPA)
  • Participating in state and national organizations to support the educational mission of the program
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program or accredited MD/DO program
  • Earned Master’s degree or subsequent terminal degree
  • Three years clinical experience
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) if applicable
  • Licensed or be eligible for licensure in the State of Michigan
  • Effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity
  • Able to work independently or in group
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching or clinical preceptor experience.

Dow College of Health Professions consists of five academic units (Department of Physical Therapy, Department of Physical Education and Sport, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, the School of Health Sciences, and the School of Rehabilitation and Medical Science). About the Physician Assistant Program:

The Physician Assistant Program is a 27-month program which provides the academic and clinical training that prepares its graduates to be certified and licensed to practice medicine with physician collaboration in an ethical, compassionate and professional manner. The first students matriculated in May 1996, and the first class graduated in July 1998.
The program was created by CMU to address the health care needs of residents in the northern Lower Peninsula and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which includes many rural and medically underserved communities. To learn more about the physician assistant program, visit the program website .
