Pharmacy Technician, Research
Clinical Trials Unit Research
Location:  New Orleans, LA
Summary
This position assists Research Pharmacists with the day-to-day operations of the Research Pharmacy. The responsibilities of the pharmacy technician, under general supervision of Research Pharmacist, include: managing the investigational products (IP) inventory; providing technical assistance with clinical trial protocols; performing drug distribution activities, when required; maintaining information and assisting in the record keeping related to clinical trials required by the study protocols; preparing intravenous and or chemotherapy products in accordance with established procedures and guidelines; maintaining the clinical investigational work areas in a clean and orderly manner; performing training/educational functions; performing cross-functional and other duties and responsibilities consistent with the job classification.
Please note: This position is at risk of exposure to chemotherapy and hazardous medications.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong organizational, communications and mathematics skills
• Proficiency with Windows applications
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to manage and prioritize tasks
• Ability to understand the importance of and respect the confidentiality of all patient information
• Ability to comply with all safety and security regulations


REQUIRED BACKGROUND CHECK, PHYSICAL, AND DRUG SCREENING FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:
Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation, required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended. 
Required Education and/or Experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year sterile preparation compounding experience
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT)
• Pharmacy technician certificate issued by LA Board of Pharmacy
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree
• Sterile compounding certification
• Experience with clinical trials
• 1 years of hospital experience
Compensation Information
This position is classified as "non-exempt, hourly" and is assigned to pay grade 22.
