Physical Requirements
This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.
Shift
Primarily day shift, occasional second shift, every fourth to sixth weekend, 2-3 holidays per year.
Job Summary
The Pediatric Pharmacy Team at Kentucky Children’s Hospital is recruiting a full-time acute/progressive care clinical pharmacist. The position provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care activities for neonatal and pediatric patients admitted to the covered services and actively participates on multidisciplinary team patient care rounds. Contacts and confers with physicians and other practitioners to optimize drug therapy. Includes active participation in medication reconciliation, patient education, review of patient profiles, therapeutic drug monitoring, clinical documentation, responding to pediatric emergencies, etc. Provides educational services to pharmacy students, residents, pharmacists, physicians, and nurses through precepting, in-service presentations, and teaching at the College of Pharmacy. Contributes to the scholarly productivity of the enterprise through clinical research, quality improvement, presentations, publications, etc. Reviews, interprets, and verifies written and electronic orders to ensure appropriate drug therapy has been prescribed for admitted patients. Provides direction and supervision of technical staff and pharmacy interns and confirms the quality and accuracy of dispensed products. Upholds UK Healthcare core values and maintains effective teamwork with pharmacists, residents, technicians, interns, physicians, nurses, allied health staff, etc. The candidate accepting this position will work every fourth to sixth weekend and 2-3 university observed holidays per year.
The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted. The minimum salary for this position will now be $104,697/year. All pay rates will be based on candidate’s experience.

Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.

Preferred Education/Experience
PharmD and ASHP PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 specialty residency preferred.
