Position Summary
Performs Positron Emission (PET) scans, manages the research PET facility, and supervises imaging aspects of PET research projects at the Center for Clinical Imaging and Research (CCIR). Also provides essential patient care associates with PET research subjects.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs PET and CT scans on subjects enrolled by investigators and collaborators of the CCIR in an organized and timely fashion.
- Renders appropriate patient care.
- Monitors and performs preventive maintenance on tomography and relevant ancillary equipment to ensure operation in accordance with MIR and manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Supervises scheduling of scanner time and coordinates scheduling of cyclotron bombardment for subjects to be imaged.
- Purchases and manages supplies used in research imaging procedures, using Washington University Financial Information System in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintains technical competencies through continued education.
- Administers radiopharmaceuticals and/or contrast agents according to site-specific protocols.
- Ensures laboratory and work area comply with MIR health and safety policies and procedures with no violations.
Working Conditions
Laboratory environment with exposure to strong magnetic fields, radiation, fumes, and odors. Must possess finger and manual dexterity and lift 50 lbs. and carry up to 30 lbs. Must possess visual acuity, depth perception and color vision to perform laboratory operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to demonstrate analytical reasoning and perform complex mathematical computations and think logically.
- Two years of research-based PET experience.
- Proficient in starting IVs.
Required Qualifications
- Equivalent of Bachelors degree in science or related field; certified with American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRTN) or equivalent (CNMT); three years relevant experience as a staff technologist; one year management experience; extensive knowledge of computers, medical imaging devices, i.e. PET imaging software and devices, knowledge of WU FIS system or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Basic Life Support certification (Online Basic Life Support certifications without a skills assessment component are not sufficient to meet the Basic Life Support requirements).

Salary Range
$32.08 - $49.73 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
