POSITION SUMMARY

The Department Technician II will support the Perkins Innovation and Modernization grant. The program technician provides clerical and technical support to the grant. Duties include independently performing office administration activities involving complex and technical work to ensure grant compliance, serving as a resource to the community about the PIM grant, and supporting grant staff to meet goals and objectives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Support

  • Embraces appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions; understands and utilizes available technology as communication and data gathering tools
  • Maintains knowledge and proficiency with multiple software programs such as Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, Banner, My Chemeketa, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Serves as a resource person in providing information, and assistance on the grant and Chemeketa CCN, Targeted HS, and Early College programming
  • Actively pursues continuous improvement and workplace organizational practices in a team environment to provide effective, high-quality service to both internal and external customers. May be asked to learn and adopt Lean practices
  • Prepares and maintains documents related to course offerings, program offerings, and clerical input
  • Maintains and coordinates conference room schedules using 25 live for various meetings and activities as requested by staff and faculty
  • Opens and secures staff once each workday; manages building facilities and reports problems; orders o?ce supplies; monitors equipment for repair/replacement; maintains desk manuals, and building bulletin boards; arranges for meetings, facilities and equipment
Student Services
  • Embraces diversity and actively collaborates effectively with a variety of students, staff and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds
  • Actively participates in banner
  • Provides general college and department information to students, staff, and the public in person and on the phone; makes appropriate referrals as needed; performs reception duties; provides information to students
Grant Support
  • Attends required trainings/workshops
  • Prepares, types, proofs, and edits: reports, forms, spreadsheets, fliers, course syllabi, and other grant materials including mailings, scanning documents and converting documents.
  • May take minutes or transcribe

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

SCHEDULE & MODALITY

Regular remote/hybrid work is not a feature of this position. At the supervisor's discretion, exemptions may be made for special projects or responsibilities requiring periodic needed focus time.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • This is a 100%, 12-month classified assignment of the B2 band and grade
  • This is a grant-funded position with a current end date of January 31, 2025 with the possibility of it being funded through January 31, 2027
  • Please note: The college is currently undertaking a comprehensive classification and compensation study.  No employee will lose base pay because of this study, however, classification titles and pay grades may change.  The successful candidate will receive notice of all changes prior to implementation which is currently projected for the Summer of 2024.
  • This position has a 6-month probationary period
  • All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
  • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations
  • If requested, requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire
  • Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

Sedentary Work:   Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary requirements are met.
