Job Description | The purpose of the Mentor Hub Facilitators is to create a dynamic, welcoming, and safe environment for students in the engineering hub. The Mentor Hub Facilitator is responsible for contributing to the overall success of the engineering program and its students by helping students develop a positive attitude, self-confidence, and motivation toward their academic work. Mentor Hub Facilitators serve as an extra layer of support for our Angelo State Engineering Scholars Program (ASES) recipients. Mentors act as bridge-builders, able to direct their mentees to resources both on and off campus, upperclassmen in their desired field, and provide insight into how to navigate the early stages of their college transition. Mentors do this formally, through individual, small group, and large group gatherings, as well as informally, as a trusted point-of-contact throughout the year. Job Duties and Expectations
Skills and abilities:
Hours & Supervision: All Student Peer Mentor Hub Facilitators will be limited to no more than 20 hours per week. The goal is to provide staffing during Hub peak hours (typically M – F 10am-6pm). The Student Hub Facilitators will be supervised by the Director of Engineering Student Success Services in the DLH Engineering Department. |
