Summary

Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital partner to operate a premier children’s hospital dedicated to advancing child health through leading-edge research, compassionate care, and innovative treatments. Our Pediatric Critical Care Division is seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to drive forward our mission of delivering exceptional care and outcomes. The Senior Data Scientist will play a critical role in utilizing clinical healthcare data to derive insights, inform decision-making, and optimize patient care. This is a unique opportunity to merge the realms of data science and pediatric critical care, making meaningful contributions to the betterment of children's health.


Job Duties
  • Design and implement advanced statistical analyses on complex clinical healthcare datasets.
  • Lead and participate in multicenter studies, ensuring accurate data gathering and interpretation.
  • Secure extramural funding to support innovative research projects.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, researchers, and data specialists.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the academic growth of the division.
  • Participate in divisional and institutional seminars, workshops, and teaching sessions.
  • Expertise with physiologic signal processing in time series (in particular, ECG waveforms) and their direct application/translation to machine learning models.
  • Experience leading an NIH funded, academic data science team, with a track record of success.
  • Experience with leveraging integrated data and analytics platforms, such as Palantir, in leveraging patient level data to model critical care outcomes.

 

Additional information:

  • Experience in pediatrics or intensive care settings.
  • Proven track record in teaching and mentorship.
  • Participation in multicenter studies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in analyzing clinical healthcare data.
  • A robust portfolio of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Prior success in securing extramural funding.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in leading research teams.
  • Familiarity with pediatric or intensive care data is highly desired.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in pediatrics or intensive care settings.
  • Proven track record in teaching and mentorship.
  • Participation in multicenter studies.
