Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Radiology is searching for a full-time faculty member at senior rank for up to a five-year renewable term. As Section Chief, the appointee will lead the Pediatric Radiology Section with the overarching goal of enhancing its clinical and academic excellence. The appointee will foster professional and academic excellence, implement methods to improve performance and wellbeing, and provide support and guidance for academic advancement and research endeavors. Other duties include training and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The appointee will be comfortable with all aspects of Pediatric Radiology (conventional radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI) and contribute to patient care, medical education, and scholarship, and join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners at UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates.

The University of Chicago Medical Center is designated as both a Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center and operates a nationally recognized burn unit. Comer Children's Hospital is an integrated children’s hospital that offers a full complement of pediatric services with a total of 172 general pediatric, NICU and PICU beds. The Department of Radiology includes more than 80 full-time faculty members, clinical associates, and postdoctoral researchers. In addition to teaching medical students, residents and fellows, our faculty conduct cutting-edge translational and clinical research. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois and the State of Indiana, 3) be Board certified or eligible in Radiology, and 4) have completed a Pediatric Radiology fellowship or have equivalent experience in pediatric radiology.
