POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine is seeking a per-diem physician to join the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Division. The pediatric intensivist will work primarily at Tampa General Hospital's nine-bed pediatric intensive care unit and provide highly specialized care and treatment to critically injured and ill children and adolescents. This position will also supervise residents and medical students in the clinical setting and may participate in research and scholarly activities in the Department of Pediatrics. The division is based at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) in Tampa, FL. TGH is a 1,018-bed teaching hospital affiliated with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine.  It is a private not-for-profit hospital and one of the most comprehensive medical facilities in west central Florida, serving a dozen counties with a population of over 4 million. In addition to being a level one trauma center, it has a level 3 NICU.  The 82-bed Jennifer Leigh Muma NICU is a designated Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Center designated by the State of Florida to deliver the highest level of medical care to premature and sick infants, and to women with high-risk pregnancies. USF/TGH Neonatology also participates in the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative, a statewide initiative to improve maternal and infant health outcomes in Florida.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide inpatient coverage at Tampa General Hospital in the pediatric intensive care unit to patients ranging from infants to young adults.
• Participates in the educational and training activities of the USF Department of Pediatrics, and be expected to develop didactic teaching sessions, grand rounds, and clinical teaching of pediatric residents and students. Teaching activities may occur while simultaneously assigned to clinical duties in the PICU at TGH.
• May provide administrative services at the TGH Day Hospital.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:

• Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
• Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate, or Full Professor. 
• For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals.
• Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required.  To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties.

PREFERRED:

• ECMO and sedation. Active Florida medical license.
