Position Focus:

The Pediatric Fellowships Manager serves a key leadership role in the Pediatric Office of Education. The Fellowships Manager, in collaboration with the Director of Fellowships and the Office of Education Manager, is responsible for a wide-range of activities including oversight and development of 12 ACGME-accredited subspecialty training programs and 2 non-accredited fellowship programs in the Department of Pediatrics, designing curriculum and coordinating logistics for fellow conferences, and onboarding and orientation of all fellows in the department. Works closely with leadership to develop or enhance and implement strategic plans, workflow and contributes to website and editorial content. In addition, the Fellowships Manager is responsible for the training, support, and mentorship of 4 full-time staff members.


Essential Duties

1. Develops and oversees execution of operational goals, objectives, practice and procedures. Contributes to the development of policies 2. Supervises day-to-day activities of support staff. Responsible for staff performance management and evaluation and for workforce planning 3. Evaluates work requests to determine if they are appropriate to unit; ensures that work flow is organized and unit is staffed for quality efficient completion. 4. Assess available options and identify and implement solutions to financial, administrative and technical issues; ensure consistent application of solutions within the policies and practices of the University and the unit. . 5. Participates in long and short-range planning for work unit needs. 6. Develops, implements, and manages a training metrics system to track unit performance. 7. Develops and maintains budgets. 8. Interacts with University personnel to define work assignments and requirements and to plan and coordinate projects. 9. Interacts with external sources to manage work necessary to fulfill projects, keep abreast of new products and technologies, or arrange for subcontractors. 10. May perform other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience

Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s Degree in related field and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Required Skill/Ability 1:

Demonstrated ability overseeing fellowship programs and activities, such as orientation, onboarding, curriculum design and fellow conferences.


Required Skill/Ability 2:

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to provide direction, support and guidance to both fellows and staff. Ability to provide direction and counsel to fellows regarding graduate medical education policies. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.


Required Skill/Ability 3:

Excellent judgment with strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. Well-developed decision-making and problem-solving skills.


Required Skill/Ability 4:

Strong computer skills, including Word, Outlook, Zoom or similar virtual meeting technology.


Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Experience in pediatric medical fellowships. Experience working with ACGME training programs.
