Position Summary/Purpose of Position: | The Payroll/HR Business Services Specialist is responsible for overseeing and processing all aspects of the Department of Transportation Services payroll, serving a diverse workforce of over 400 nonexempt and exempt regular, contractual, and student employees. Their duties include provide instructions to departmental staff on payroll policies and procedures, maintaining and updating payroll forms and policies, assessing the efficiency of payroll operations, assists with human resources related functions. and suggesting and executing improvements where necessary. Minimum Qualifications: | Education: High School Diploma or GED. Experience: Six years progressively responsible experience in a combination of budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and personnel work. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. |
