Physical Requirements
This position requires regularly sitting and standing at a computer workstation for extended periods, frequently walking with objects weighing up to 15 pounds, lifting, and performing tasks with repetitive motions. This position requires face-to-face interviews with patients in a hospital or clinical setting. This position is not subject to remote work and reports on campus.
Shift
The position is 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Sunday through Thursday; will include some holidays and a potential for weekend rotations. This is a fully on-site position.
Job Summary
Under the Patient Advocate Supervisor’s direction, the Patient Financial Services Representative – is responsible for screening patients for Medicaid, financial assistance, and disability, if applicable. The representative is expected to be familiar with the hospital and departmental policies and procedures, utilize all hospital and department resources to accomplish the assigned job duties. The representative will participate in unit and Enterprise activities to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and patient satisfaction. The representative must be certified CAC for Medicaid enrollment within the first 30 days of employment and completed SOAR training. This is a fully on-site position.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented; possess in-depth HIPAA knowledge; have the ability to multi-task with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail; be proficient in Microsoft Office, to include Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal); have solid time management, critical thinking, follow-through, and planning and organizational skills; and have a high level of respect for confidentiality.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No
Preferred Education/Experience
Associate’s degree; third party insurance claims follow-up/collections experience; medical, office and/or clerical work preferred. Previous experience working with patient accounts/HIPAA is highly preferred.
