Physical Requirements
This position requires regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods; and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and performing tasks with repetitive motions. This position is not eligible for a remote work setting.
Shift
8:00am – 4:30pm With some holidays and weekends required, This position will serve pediatric, NICU, patients at Kentucky Children’s Hospital and our Mother/Baby unit. 
Job Summary
This position provides customer service to patients and families to help ensure that UKHC collects sufficient cash necessary to support healthcare operations. The primary duties include assisting in making other financial arrangements when patients cannot pay in full; assisting patients with applying for state assistance programs, Medicaid, and disability; explaining benefits and verifying insurance coverage; and answering questions regarding bills for hospital and physician services. The employee must become Benefind and SOAR federally certified for ACA applications and Social Security disability assistance. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to screen patients at the bedside. 
The employee must obtain Kynector status within the first two week of employment and continue to maintain Kynector status.
This position is not eligible for a remote work setting.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented; possess in-depth HIPAA knowledge; have the ability to multi-task with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail; be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal); have solid time management, critical thinking, follow-through, and planning and organizational skills; and have a high level of respect for confidentiality. Must obtain and maintain Kynect certification status. This position is not subject to remote work setting.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No
Preferred Education/Experience
Associate degree; third party insurance claims follow-up/collections experience; and medical, office and/or clerical work preferred. Previous experience working with patient accounts/HIPAA and screening patients in a health care setting for financial assistance programs is highly preferred.
