Job Summary:


Under the direction of the Assistant Director and Patient Advocate Supervisor, the Patient Financial Services Representative is responsible for resolving uninsured inpatient and outpatient accounts by screening the patient for financial assistance, disability, and Medicaid. The representative is expected to be familiar with the hospital and departmental policies and procedures and can utilize all resources within the department to accomplish the assigned job duties. This position will also provide customer service to patients and families to help ensure that UKHC provides excellent customer service by answering questions, ability to screen patients for Medicaid and financial assistance to support healthcare operations and participating in unit and enterprise activities to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.
Must obtain and maintain Kynect certification to screen patients for Medicaid. Certification must be obtained within the first two weeks of employment.
This is a 100% remote position, the employee must be able to provide a confidential appropriate work space and maintain internet to be able to do the job functions. 

Skills /Knowledge/Abilities:


The ideal candidate will be customer service-oriented; possess in-depth HIPAA knowledge; have the ability to multi-task with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail; have obtained Microsoft Office (including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) proficiency; possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), have solid time management, critical thinking, follow-through, and planning and organizational skills; and have a high level of respect for confidentiality.

Preferred Education/Experience:


Associate degree, third-party insurance claims follow-up/collections experience, and medical office and/or clerical work experience preferred; previous experience working with patient accounts and HIPAA regulations highly preferred.
