Part-Time Temporary Supplemental Instruction Mentor

The University of North Georgia is currently in search of a Part-Time Temporary Mentor for the Supplemental Instruction program. A department of University College, Supplemental Instruction is responsible for providing academic assistance to students in courses identified as posing critical challenges for students as evidenced by the higher DWFs received across multiple campuses. The part-time mentor will collaborate with the Director of Supplemental Instruction, the Coordinator of Supplemental Instruction, and the Supplemental Instruction Graduate Assistant to maintain the Supplemental Instruction program at the University of North Georgia. This position requires occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.

  • Conduct observations and provide written/verbal feedback for the SI facilitators and facilitating mentors.
  • Serve as a liaison between the SI administration and the internal committee co-leads to ensure effective communications related to marketing, resources, leadership, community building, and recruitment areas of focus.
  • Assist Director in the mentorship and coaching of mentors and senior leaders on the SI leadership team.
  • Create meeting agendas for weekly mentor meetings.
  • Assist Director in developing observation and debrief processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain excellent and effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as, effective listening skills. 
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize deadlines. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office- Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • At least one year of experience in Supplemental Instruction required.
  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with UNG Connect and Banner systems, preferred.
