Position Summary Information


Objective
To instruct students based on the standards provided by ARC/STSA. Visit clinical sites to evaluate students. Assist the Program Director as needed either in the classroom or in the clinical setting.
Essential Duties
Under the direction of the Program Director, the clinical instructor will:
1. Ensure students meet required clinical case requirements for graduation per accreditation standards
2. Evaluate students in the clinical setting
3. Disseminate, monitor, and collect student documentation required for clinical externships
4. Attends participates in meetings and committees as required
5. Maintain CST credential at all times
6. Function as a member of the team in a proactive, ethical, respectful, and responsible manner
7. Practice strong interpersonal communication
8. Ensure students demonstrate safe patient care
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Organizational skills a must.
Computer skills a must.
Proficient in day to day surgical technology duties.
Preferred Experience and Training
Applicant must have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
Applicant must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in the operating room.
Physical Requirements
Applicant must be able to stand for long periods of time while evaluating students.
Applicant must be able to pick up instrument pans that could weigh 25lbs.
Required Degree, License or Certifications
Applicant must hold the CST certification from NBSTSA.
Special Notes To Applicants
Travel to clinical sites for established externships is required. Check on clinical students to ensure they are getting their cases. As such, reliable transportation is essential to function in this role.
