IU POLICE DEPARTMENT (UA-PD-IUINA)
- Manages evidence intake.
- Maintains chain of custody through thorough documentation.
- Captures photographs of digital evidence
- Keeps contemporaneous notes to document actions performed with digital evidence.
- Collaborates with peers, officers, and detectives.
- Conducts data acquisition from a variety of digital devices.
- Creates forensic reports.
- Analyzes data obtained from digital evidence.
EDUCATION
Required
- Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University and in good academic standing.
- Currently enrolled in the IU Indianapolis School of Science, majoring in Forensic and Investigative Sciences.
- Cumulative GPA above 2.5 while in program.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required
- Valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire.
SKILLS
Required
- Exceptional writing abilities.
- Excellent critical thinking skills.
- Ability to sign a confidentiality agreement and maintain high confidentiality regarding all investigations.
- Ability to deal with potentially distressing and graphic subject matter.
Preferred
- Possesses basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking.
- Possesses basic familiarity with mobile device technologies and operating systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of social networking platforms and applications (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Kik, TikTok, etc.).
