Part-time Program Coordinator with EPIC

We seek a part-time coordinator for a human subjects research project that is recruiting for a study that uses a mobile app to directly connect cancer patients to resources to meet social needs they identify, for example, food, or housing. The app will directly connect cancer patients to resources based on their answers to the screening questions, and we will use the patient's electronic health record to examine patient outcomes in the short- and long-term. For this position, we have a strong preference for someone with experience with EPIC, Oncore, IRBs, and REDCap data management for recruiting participants into clinical trials. The position will include helping with tracking and retention of recruited

patients, assisting with regulatory compliance, and other patient-facing duties as assigned by the Research Program Manager. The candidate must be available for patient follow-up on some evenings and weekends. Having existing access to Hopkins' EPIC system is preferred.

Responsibilities include:

- Reviewing patient clinical files for clinical trial eligibility

- Contacting clinical providers about potentially eligible patients

- Track participant Adverse Events

- Assist with updating patient data in REDCap

- Assist with electronically storing source documents

- Work with Program Manager to ensure complete data collection across time points

- Back-up support for consenting participants if Program Manager is unavailable

- Attend team meetings

- Assist Program Manager with IRB needs

- Assist Program Manager with other duties, as assigned.

Because this job involves reaching and consenting patients, working on evenings and weekends may be be necessary. This position requires up to 10 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline. Related Master's preferred.
  • Five years related experience
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with:

  • Data management software (e.g., RedCAP)
  • Clinical study recruitment
  • Submitting amendments to the IRB
  • Accessing data from EPIC/Electronic health records
  • Experience with Oncore and with Oncore calendar builds
  • Mastery of in MS Office Packages, especially Excel
  • Existing Johns Hopkins University employee

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
