Job Summary
Conducts
research for the Wiggins Research Group, works with graduate students, prepares
reactions, organizes laboratory, develops data reports, maintains data
spreadsheets, collates experimental data for analysis, coordinates data
activities, facilitates raw-material inventories, provides data analysis,
written and oral dissemination of research results. Aids group researchers to manage research
activities and reporting to funding organizations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
Student in polymer science and engineering, chemistry, biology or other related field of mathematics and sciences.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Utilizes
personal computer, telephone, and electronics associated with report writing
such as Microsoft WORD, PowerPoint and Excel. Experience using statistics and graphics programs such as SigmaPlot,
JMP, MATLAB and etc. is preferred.
- Ability to
read, analyze, and interpret the complex polymer science manuscripts. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive
scientific inquiries and mitigate research sponsor concerns. Ability to write
scientific articles and prepare/deliver speeches from original research in an
innovative style. Ability to make effective
and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to
program managers, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to
comprehend and apply principles of advanced mathematics, modern algebra, and
advanced statistical theory. Ability to
work with concepts such as limits, quadratic and differential equations, and
proofs of theorems.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate student in polymer science and engineering, chemistry, biology or other related field of mathematics and sciences.
