JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Extension’s Food, Families, and Community Unit is seeking candidates to work remotely to review, revise and edit products submitted to our internal peer review process. The position will work directly with the product authors and peer review coordinator.


Job duties include:
•  Review, revise, and edit various educational products including, but not limited to: articles, curricula, Cvent templates, PowerPoints, recipes, video scripts, webpages, and other items for public distribution
•  Determining if products are appropriate or rejecting products
•  Researching and fact-checking information and sources
•  Work with authors to ensure materials conform to specific editorial styles and accommodate target audiences
•  Provide consultation and writing for special projects and presentations
•  Review materials for copyright compliance


Requirements for the position:
•  Strong organizational skills
•  Attention to detail
•  Willingness to establish proficiency in APA Style and AP News Style
•  Good written and oral communication skills
•  Flexible and open to change
•  Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
•  Understanding of Extension mission and goals
•  Ability to work independently


Prior knowledge and experience with Penn State Extension or the Family Well-Being and Health and Wellness programs are preferred. As many of the products to be reviewed involved food and nutrition, a strong background in nutrition is also preferred.

A successful candidate must demonstrate proficient knowledge of the concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization; perform intermediate tasks in defined skill areas/applications by continuously building on current job knowledge; must be diligent and can apply established guidelines.

This position is remotely, involving independent work, participating in Zoom meetings and frequent emails. This position may work up to 40 hours/week for a short-term period.
