Job Summary:

Join the Marcus Institute for Brain Health (MIBH) as a Marketing & Communications Specialist. This is a part-time (0.70 FTE) university staff role. The Specialist is responsible for assisting with the overall marketing/communications strategy and developing and implementing timely, creative, and accurate dissemination of news, multimedia content, and information. The Specialist ensures all marketing and communications are aligned with the vision and mission of MIBH and will ensure that developed content is compelling, accurate, relevant, current, and consistent with CU brand messaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with MIBH Leadership on strategies regarding marketing and communications opportunities and execution.
  • Create and maintain a MIBH presence on social media platforms, including through content creation (LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.).
  • Develop MIBH content for a targeted Veteran/military/first responder audience.
  • Enhance MIBH communications with marketing, message development, writing, and editing.
  • Create a variety of content for platforms, ensuring quality, accuracy, and effective storytelling that aligns with corporate messaging, including press releases, newsletters, blog posts, social media posts, webinars, podcasts, videos, infographics, and presentations.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as CU, UCHealth, Avalon Action Alliance, Marcus Foundation, healthcare providers, researchers, consultants, media, and military/Veteran/first responder associations to amplify messaging.
  • Track metrics for marketing & communications activities and present them to MIBH Leadership.
  • Assist leadership with development, implementation, and communications for an MIBH Alumni Program.

Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in marketing and communications. 
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire .

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with military, veteran, healthcare or first responder communities.
  • Experience creating communications for diverse audiences on multiple social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, etc.).
  • Experience in professional interviewing, writing, and telling the patient’s story.
  • Experience creating content and maintaining a website.
  • Experience generating and developing new content, blogs, etc.
  • Experience working within a higher education and/or medical education environment.
  • Experience creating content, editing, and proofreading.
  • Experience working in a startup and/or small teams.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task. 
  • Proven track record in problem resolution.
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge related to patient recruitment and consenting.
  • Knowledge related to developing and delivering educational interventions.
  • Experience with Microsoft

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this part-time (0.70 FTE) position has been established as $37,977.80 to $48,308.40 annually.

    The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
