The University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music invites applications for a Part-Time Lecturer in Vocal Performance to begin on August 16, 2024. This is a two-semester appointment ending May 15, 2025.

Duties

Principal duties will include teaching individual instruction to Vocal majors at the undergraduate and graduate levels. As currently projected, this position will teach a studio of approximately 10 to 14 graduate and upper-class undergraduate students of all voice types. The actual teaching load will depend on enrollment and may vary. Additional duties include leading periodic studio classes throughout the semester and attending department meetings, auditions and juries as needed and requested.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a record of success in teaching individual studio instruction at the collegiate or pre-professional level, and demonstrated excellence as a distinguished performer of operatic and concert repertoire.

• Minimum Education: Bachelor of Music Degree.

• Minimum Experience: A record of successful teaching of advanced students, either in a private studio setting or within a university or conservatory. Consideration may be given for extensive professional performance experience, in operatic and/or concert settings, in lieu of other qualifications, if appropriate.

• Preferred Education: Masters Degree in Music or closely related field.

The base salary range for this position is $24,000 $30,000 per semester, based on a projected studio enrollment of 12 students. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the actual number of students assigned to the studio, the candidates work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
