Job Summary
The Hobson Wildenthal Honors College at The University of Texas at Dallas seeks well-qualified lecturers for graduate and/or undergraduate courses at the Archer Center.
The graduate lecturers are responsible for working with students assigned to a topical policy working group in the Independent Study and Research course.
The graduate lecturers will collaborate with the lead instructor on class lectures, lead weekly discussion sections for a policy working group, and advise students in their policy working group as they develop relevant networks and refine specific policy recommendations to present to federal decision makers.
The graduate lecturers will also be responsible for grading their students’ policy papers.
The Archer Center is also seeking undergraduate lecturers who can support instruction in any of the following undergraduate courses: The Politics of National Memory, The Policymaking Process, Advocacy and Politics, and Internship.
In the Politics of National Memory course, the undergraduate lecturers are responsible for working with students assigned to a discussion group; these lecturers will collaborate with the lead instructor to develop and deliver class lectures and will lead weekly discussion sections and grade weekly written assignments for students assigned to their discussion section.
In the Policymaking Process course, the undergraduate instructors will collaborate with the lead instructor on class lectures, lead weekly discussion sections for a policy working group, and advise students in their policy working group as they develop relevant networks and refine specific policy recommendations to present to federal decision makers.
The lecturers will also be responsible for grading their students’ policy assignments. In the Internship course, the undergraduate lecturers will be responsible for leading group discussions about required professional development readings, and for providing individual mentoring/advice to Fellows during the semester.
An appropriate terminal degree or doctorate in a related field or equivalent experience is required for teaching graduate courses. College teaching in an institution similar to UT Dallas is preferred. The Hobson Wildenthal Honors College engages faculty to teach at the Archer Center in Washington, DC. Courses are offered between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. and may include lecture and seminar formats, among others.

Minimum Education and Experience

An earned graduate degree appropriate to the academic discipline/topic and a record of productivity and professional achievement.

Preferred Education and Experience
A graduate degree in humanities, liberal arts, life science, physical science, social science, business, medicine, law or health sciences and/or five years of professional federal policy experience and/or teaching experience is required. Ten years of professional and teaching experience is preferred. Additional preferred experience: writing or negotiating statutes and/or policy documents for the legislative and/or executive branch; published policy research/analysis in peer-reviewed or nationally- or internationally-recognized media.
