Position Summary Information


Objective
To perform the day-to-day operations of the instructional programs, by teaching psychology courses, administering assessments of the information in the class, responding to student emails/requests, attending department meetings, etc.
Essential Duties
Teaches courses as scheduled based on the needs of the psychology department.
Maintains office hours as set by the college.
Prepares course information sheets that include stated objectives for each course.
Keeps current on developments regarding instructional methodology.
Assists in making recommendations to the Department Head, Assistant Dean, and/or Dean regarding curriculum additions, deletions, or revisions.
Provides a grade evaluation on each student’s performance in the fashion and frequency required by the college.
Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Possess a driver’s license to facilitate travel to different campuses if necessary.
We have opportunities to teach face-to-face, dual credit, and Distance Education classes; however, our greatest need is for face-to-face instructors. This posting is primarily for teaching face-to-face courses on the Bryan, Rellis, Brenham, and Waller campuses.
Preferred Experience and Training
College teaching experience desirable.
Experience in working in online educational environments is preferred.
Prior experience in teaching Introductory Psychology, Lifespan Growth Development, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, & Biopsychology is preferred.
Coursework and/or Professional experience relevant to general and developmental psychology preferred.
Certified in QM online teaching and course development is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Required Degree, License or Certifications
A Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Psychology is required. Special consideration will be given to those with a Ph.D.
Applicants who are QM certified will be given special consideration.
