JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry Research, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a part time Human Research Technologist.

The Part-time Certified Ultrasound Technician or Sonographer needed to assist the sleep research team in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health.

Responsible for performing specialized ultrasound procedures for an NIH funded study; maintaining participant database; conducting data collection; troubleshooting technical problems with ultrasound equipment; maintaining protocol integrity; monitoring safety and confidentiality of project and participants; ensuring data is analyzed and entered correctly and reconciled per PI guidelines.

Ideal candidate is well trained, detail oriented, works efficiently, familiar with imaging protocols, and comfortable communicating with participants, maintaining a high level of privacy and confidentiality. Extensive experience measuring flow-mediated dilation (FMD); carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT); and coronary blood flow velocity (CBV) using ultrasound techniques is required. Candidate must also be able to read, interpret and analyze the scans to convert into numeric metrics for statistical analysis.

Collaborate with project coordinators, statisticians, clinical investigators, clinical personnel, and other data management personnel to plan and implement sleep data management tasks for research projects.

Work Hours: 4-6pm, as required by sleep study schedule, including weekends.

  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
